In some situations, the correct decision is to wait.
Before any flight, the operator should consider current weather, airspace, emergency activity, people on the ground, obstacles, property access, and whether the aircraft can be operated safely.
The goal is not simply to get a drone into the air as quickly as possible.
The goal is to obtain useful information without creating another safety problem.
Making One Part of Storm Recovery Easier
After a storm, property teams already have enough to deal with.
They may be coordinating tenants or guests, contractors, cleanup crews, insurance representatives, utilities, ownership groups, emergency repairs, and normal building operations at the same time.
Inspecting the property should not add unnecessary difficulty.
For some properties, a straightforward aerial photo inspection may provide everything the team needs.
For others, a more detailed roof or façade inspection, mapped site survey, high-resolution building documentation, or repeat inspection after repairs may be appropriate.
